What is this all about?

It has been part of our Business Plan for some time now to offer Property Advisory Services to our Clients, as we hold amongst other things a Real Estate Agent Licence.

What this means is that we can discuss more specifically how investing in real estate can be a good thing (or not so good thing) for tax purposes as well as wealth creation, but it’s not for everyone and it’s not always for the faint-hearted as, if you over extend yourself it only takes a slight increase in interest rates to bring you unstuck.

Buying an investment property continues to be one of Australia’s most favourite ways to invest and why not – it has a tried and tested history on its side. In some cases the cost of owning an investment property can be surprisingly low after you take into account your rental income and the tax deductions you’ll be entitled to.

But which type of property do you buy? We discuss the pros and cons of investing in residential or commercial real estate and whether to buy it in your personal name, a Trust or a Self-Managed Superannuation Fund. There are so many things to consider, such as the very topical ‘Capital Gains Tax’ issue, so why not get some good advice before you go ahead.
